You could say that Dr. Lucy is into ‘’skin reconstruction’’ ...naturally.
It’s called the ‘Brick Wall’ Analogy
The barrier function refers to the layer of skin (outermost layer of your skin). It is analogous to a brick wall, a concept coined by Dr. Peter M. Elias of the University of California, San Francisco, who is an expert on skin barrier and epidermal biology.
The bricks per say are dried out, non-living skin cells that are ready to shed.
The mortar (cement holding the bricks together) which is composed of lipids. -Dr. Peter M. Elias of the University of California, San Francisco, who is an expert on skin barrier and epidermal biology.

What has happened to my collagen?...Fresh, natural ingredients with botanical hyaluronic acid to the rescue!
The collagen in the skin is affected by age in various ways. The skin becomes thinner and drier, and develops sags and wrinkles due to the collagen and elastin becoming disconnected. Says, Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel, M.D. In his article: What is collagen and what happens to it when we age?
Dr. Spiegel also states:
1. Growth of new cells slow down dramatically.
2. Dull colored skin can occur as the dead cells do not shed as quickly.
3. Aging skin is more susceptible to the development of brown spots on the face and body.
4. Intrinsic aging (hereditary) Extrinsic aging (caused by tobacco and environmental factors).
5. Smoking-contains chemicals that stimulate collagen-destroying enzymes and slows down the cells which produce collagen by 40%.

🍒Why is double cleansing your face so important?
It is extremely important to remove makeup, dirt, and pollutants that have accumulated on your skin during the day, before heading to bed," Shari Marchbein, a dermatologist in New York City, tells Allure. "Sleeping with makeup on or forgetting to rinse your face before bed is a big no-no as it can cause major acne breakouts including painful cysts."
Double cleansing then, is theoretically, twice as nice. "I recommend a double-cleansing ritual to my patients to first lift dirt and grime and then to wash them away," Dendy Engelman, a New York City-based dermatologist, tells Allure.
🍒How Do You Double Cleanse?
1st Way: The way we prefer is to double cleanse with an oil based cleanser. Massage cleanser gently into your skin, then use your Clarisonic or a warm wash cloth to cleanse and wipe off for the first time. For the second time massage the oil based cleanser into your skin, which reaches deeper into the pores to loosen hardened sebum. Then warm wash cloth off followed by toner, serum, moisturizer and or face oil.
2nd Way: Following the same steps as in the 1st way, use a cream oil based cleanser, then a water based cleanser.
“So where should I start if I can only buy three products for now?” This is a common question.
The answer is you must always cleanse, tone and moisturize...the holy trinity of skin care! #basicskincare

-Indian Journal of Dermatology ALOE VERA: A SHORT REVIEW Amar Surjushe, Resham Vasani,
and D G Saple
“Aloe stimulates fibroblast which produces the collagen and elastin fibers making the skin more elastic and less wrinkled. It also has cohesive effects on the superficial flaking epidermal cells by sticking them together, which softens the skin. The amino acids also soften hardened skin cells and zinc acts as an astringent to tighten pores.”

How Do You Double Cleanse and Why?

‘By cleansing twice, you're ensuring that both the first layer of sebum, make-up, sunscreen and deeper layers of pore bacteria, which can all aggravate acne, are removed,' explains Dr. Anjali Mahto, consultant dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic
.

A quick go with a face wipe will do nothing to properly dislodge foundation and pollution particles, and if all of that is left on your skin overnight, you aren't giving your skin cells the best chance at regenerating which means no plump, youthful complexion for you.
It turns out that the right cleanser and toner absolutely make a difference!
It turns out that the right cleanser and toner absolutely make a difference!
“The cleanser you use is the most important part of your skin care routine. It is the start and end of your day, it simultaneously clears off the dirt and grime and preps your skin for your products, so if you’re using the wrong one, your other products just won’t be as effective.”- says, Aubrey Wallace of Annmarie

"I like to recommend toning while traveling," says Harper. "The air in-flight is so drying, and a toner will cleanse, hydrate, and leave you feeling refreshed." -says, Ruthie Harper, of the Laser and Skincare Clinic in Austin Texas
Your first step in skin care is so important for the health of your skin...
🍒 Many conventional cleansers contain powerful detergents (aka surfactants) that—just as they break up oil spills on roadway or grease on a frying pan—strip away the natural, beneficial oils on your skin. Cosmetic companies’ solutions tend to involve adding back in moisturizer once you’ve cleansed, a strategy akin to substituting vitamins for whole foods. Instead, think of moisture like a healthy supplement, not the main event, and think of proper skincare, in large part, as an effort to maintain the natural oils you’ve got on skin. -Goop
Why oil based creme cleansers?
Oil based creme cleansers like Dr. Lucy’s Gentle Creme Cleanser draws out oil-based debris such as sebum, makeup, SPF and soot (aka pollutants)! Water-based cleansers aren't capable of removing oil-based debris because oil and water don't mix. -Soko Glam
Great Summer skin care tips!
Cleanse twice a day.
When the air is hot and humid, your skin may experience more oil than usual. You also may find that you sweat more now compared to previous spring months that were on the milder side.
Moisturize morning and night.
Replenish skin with a concentrated dose of hydration while you sleep. Consider trying a face cream formulated with aloe, the hydrating ingredient can deliver much-needed moisture to summer skin that has been out in the sun.
